Local News

Chance Changing Lives is in need of volunteers at our Community shop in Crewe.  We are a small local charity supporting people in poverty in Crewe and surrounding areas. We are passionate about combatting homelessness and poverty with hope, help and a hot meal.
We’ve expanded in just 5 years from a small group of volunteers making a hot meal in a church hall for 30 homeless people to becoming a registered charity providing practical support with food and other essentials, advice on debt management, mental health and other services.
The  Community Pantry in Crewe is set up as a local mini market where customers who are struggling to pay bills and buy food can shop once a week for fresh fruit, veg, bread, groceries toiletries and household products for a small membership payment.  We rely heavily on volunteers to provide this service – helping customers with their shop, taking payments on the till, stock control – sorting donations of goods from supermarkets and others, and the assessment of new and existing members for their suitability for our service.
We are in need of more help, particularly for volunteers on Friday at the shop.  It’s a small friendly team, training is given and very rewarding work where you really feel you are making a difference to people’s daily lives.  If you are interested, please contact us via our website www.chancechanginglives.org or Facebook page or you can talk to me, Maggie Sutton U3A member and co-leader Patchwork and Quilting.
