Members’ Mornings

Members are invited to a social meeting each month. A speaker or alternative form of entertainment is provided, and members enjoy refreshments whilst catching up with friends.

These meetings are held in Sandbach Town Hall from September to May on the first Monday of each month  and run from 10.00 am to 12 noon. Speakers are scheduled to begin at 10:30.

Dr Karen Castle, a psychologist, will be telling entertaining stories about her life and experiences working for the NHS, The Prison Service and with the armed forces.

Roger Browne – An Entertaining Public Speaker

Roger Browne is an actor, singer, speaker, musician, director, composer and writer.

As a jazz pianist, he has accompanied many top International and UK based jazz artists including George Chisholm, Humphrey Lyttleton, George Melly, Marion Montgomery, Stefan Grappelli, Louis Armstrong all-star, Bud Freeman, Scott Hamilton, Danny Moss etc. He has played in all the countries of the UK, America’s West Coast, in California and Washington State, in Montana, Arizona, Canada’s British Columbia, across the Caribbean, in Spain, Germany, Norway, Republic of Ireland and The Netherlands.

Roger, now, apart from playing piano for Manchester Jazz and various of his own groups, delivers talks about his amazing life of music, featuring stories, songs, and interpretations of music by Gershwin, Kern, Porter etc., in his own inimitable piano style.

David Wright – The East Lancashire Railway

This illustrated talk by David is about the work of the volunteers at the East Lancashire Railway and includes two videos, one of which features The Flying Scotsman.

All in all this promises to be an interesting morning’s entertainment.

Dogs for Good

Dogs for Good will be talking about how the charity was set up, the services they provide and how the dogs are trained. We will also hear from a clients perspective of how their assistance dog is life changing for them.
