How to Apply to Join a Group

Please note: You must be a member of Sandbach u3a to join any of our activity groups.

1 – Login to Sandbach u3a website using your username and password. Click here if you need instructions: How to login

2 – Go to the Groups Listing by selecting Groups in the main menu

3 – Scroll down to the group you wish to join and click on its name in the list

4 – Check if the group has any vacancies by looking for the heading “Vacancies” in the list of details on the left. The entry will show one of three indicators as follows:

The number of vacancies – (confirming of course that there are vacancies)

“Waiting List” – This means that there are currently no vacancies but there is a reasonable chance of a place becoming available in the not-too-distant future, and you can apply to join the list

“Sorry Completely Full” – This means that currently the group is unable to take on any more members or add any to a waiting list

(Leaders are asked to only add members to their waiting list where there is a chance of them joining the group within a reasonable period. The committee monitor groups in this situation and endeavour to increase capacity or resolve any issues where possible.)

5 – Next to the group name at the top of the page, providing you are logged on, you will see two icons. To apply to join, simply click on the one shown below:

A page will open confirming the vacancy situation (i.e. as detailed at section 4 above) and if there is a vacancy in the group or a place on the waiting list, you will then be able to click a button to submit your application.

6 – If you need to ask the leader a question before you apply, click on the icon shown below:

A window will open with an email form for you to complete. Complete the form by entering your question(s) and click “Send”. The system will automatically insert your name and address and send the email to the relevant leader (or leaders if the group has more than one) so they can reply directly back to you.

You should receive a reply within a few days.

7 – If you prefer not to use the online system, you can ask to be put in touch with the leader either by visiting our occasional information desk in Sandbach Library or making contact by using one of the contact methods shown on our Contacts Page
