Walking with Dogs

The Walking with Dogs Group (actually you can join even without a dog!) enjoyed yet another walk in the Sandbach area on Monday morning, 14th March.  Warmed by the spring sunshine, we set out from Sandbach Library for a walk which took us through the lanes and footpaths of Bradwall, returning after nearly 5 miles to the Old Hall for a well deserved coffee break. As usual the route was designed to give our dogs plenty of opportunity to run free off the lead (safely and ‘legally’), as well as giving the owners an interesting walk too! We are always amazed at how many miles we cover at what seems at the time a gentle stroll.

So far we have walked mainly around the Sandbach area – our planned Christmas walk round Warmingham was thwarted when the reconnaissance party (Norma and Kath) encountered too many fields of cows…. So we have been, for example, as far as Hassall Green, and on a circular walk taking in the Salt Line for part of the way. Our next walk in April will set out from Sandbach Heath and make across the fields to the old drovers’ road – coffee stop yet to be decided!

It is a pleasure to walk in company, and especially to see the dogs’ delight at having ‘pals’ to chase around with – observing their different characters makes much of the fun of the walk. And don’t mention the time that Alfie turned green…. (that’s the dog by the way).

If you have a dog (and even if you don’t), and would like to join us, we meet every second Monday in the month and our walks last most of the morning. We always try to have a coffee somewhere in a dog friendly establishment too!
