Twenty teams battled it out in St Mary’s church hall last week to find the best brains in Sandbach u3a. Thanks go to Julie Clarke who set the questions; husband Ian for the legwork and Kevin Dean whp recorded the scores on the laser display screen. Jim Thomson provided the sound system from the Scouts and everyone seemed to enjoy the event. Given that prizes went only to the top-scoring two teams, this demonstrates that it’s not the winning that matters but the taking part. We now have some vacancies at Peaceful Painting. Members bring their own equipment and need sufficient ability to enjoy painting or drawing without instruction though we have all levels of experience and are very helpful, if help is wanted.
Whether you wish to draw, print or paint watercolour, pastels, acrylic, ink or oils there is room for you.
The U3A Choir is holding its annual Carol Concert on Thursday 14 December at 2pm in the Wesley Centre. We are expecting a surprise visit from another U3A Group to add a little variety.
All U3A members are invited come along and join us – it’s free, but there will be a donation box for new choir music.
Since the 16th October Sandbach u3a has collected 307 bras to be reused or recycled through the charity Against Breast Cancer. An amazing amount saved from landfill! Thank you to all who have donated so far.
