u3a Group News

Wings and Wheels – Sandbach U3A’s new Transport Group.

Message from the group leader Geoff Pyke

“We plan to start on Tuesday 3rd of September 9am – 11am, provisionally in the Masonic Hall (to be confirmed) Thereafter every 1st Tuesday of the month at 9am to 11am.

We hope to encourage all members of the group to contribute either short chats or a full  session talk on a subject relating to transport.

All modes of transport are up for discussion, but for the moment we seem to have a preference for Planes, trains and motorbikes.

However canals, shipping, bicycles, motor vehicles of all types, horse and carts, steam engines etc can be accommodated.

We also hope to do trips out to transport related places of interest using shared transport.”

If you are interested please send Geoff a message via the Sandbach U3A groups web page under ‘wings and wheels’

u3a Website Review Team

 We are looking for volunteers to form a “Website Review Team” the purpose of which will be to ensure that the website continues to function well and give members what they need. We would like to hear not only from anyone who has IT and website design skills but also from members who are not confident in these areas to ensure that it remains user friendly and accessible to internet “novices”

If you would like to explore this further, please email mailings@sandbachU3A.org.uk

Do you have a spare lap-top that you no longer need?

 As many of you will know every 2 weeks we have a volunteer at Sandbach Library to sign up new members and deal with any issues from existing members. What would really help would be if we could have a laptop for these volunteers to access our website and deal with any questions regarding groups and membership. The laptop need not have a large memory but just be able to access the internet through an appropriate browser. We’d love to hear from you if you have a spare (perhaps old) laptop that you no longer need and are willing to donate it to our u3a.

If you would like to become a library volunteer you’d be very welcome and appropriate training would be provided.

If you have a spare laptop or would like to volunteer please reply to mailings@sandbachU3A.org.uk

Final Words

By Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.
