Sandbach U3A Newsletter – October / November 2013

1) Change to the Sandbach U3A Website

Stung by the charge that our website looked “ancient” I have reviewed it and created a completely new version that has now replaced the old one. The new version is based on the blogging software WordPress for those who understand such matters. I hope that when Sandbach U3A looks for a replacement to maintain the website, there will be more people willing to work with WordPress than with the software that created the old website. The WordPress software allows group leaders to post articles about their activities. So far only the Birdwatching group has taken advantage of this. If any other group wants to post articles, please reply to this message and I will set up the necessary access.

2) Newsletter Editor – Alan Butler

Alan joined the Sandbach U3A committee at the AGM in October and has volunteered to create the newsletter each month for me to email to members. If you want to add an item to a monthly newsletter, please send it to alangbutler@yahoo.co.uk before the 3rd Monday of the month starting in November 2013.

3) New Year’s Eve Tickets

Tickets for the popular celebration of the arrival of 2014 are on sale now. Paul and Doreen Hebden are taking the money and you can catch them in Sandbach library on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. Click the link for details at http://www.sandbachu3a.org.uk/1-New_Years_Eve_2013.jpg

4) U3A Diary for 2014

We are selling to members diaries for the year 2014 at the bargain price of £2. They will be available at the library desk in Sandbach library on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month and at U3A functions thereafter until they are all gone.

5) Band Concert for Christmas 2013 3 December 2013

Instead of having a social morning with a speaker in December, the U3A band will play seasonal favourites in St Mary’s Church Hall on TUESDAY 3 December starting at 10am.
