Update 19 July 2023

Quiz

The July quiz from Julie Clarke has been loaded to the website and is ready for you to test your general knowledge. (Our quiz page lists all the quizzes that have been set previously.)

Membership Renewal

Membership renewals have begun and you will have been contacted with details about how you can renew your membership. If you like to renew in person we have set some dates aside when we will be in the Masonic Hall, rather than the library from 9.30 – 11.30, for this purpose:

26 July
9 August
23 August
Light refreshments will be available.

As in recent years group leaders have been invited to attend an information sharing session following the renewal events on either 26th July or 9th August. If you haven’t already, please let Paula know which session you will be attending.

Gift Aid and Membership renewal
If you are about to renew your membership do please consider Gift Aid. If you’re a UK taxpayer, or have become one following the latest pension increase, you can make your donation worth 25% more, at no extra cost by completing a Gift Aid form when you renew.

Sandbach Partnership

We now have more details about the proposed Repair Cafe:

Venues are currently being sourced for Repair Café Sandbach events and are aimed to take place on the morning of the third Saturday of each month at rotating venues across the town.

People visiting the Repair Café can bring along their broken items, including toasters, lamps, hair dryers, clothes, bikes, toys and crockery. Anything broken (other than microwaves or white goods) is welcome, and a group of volunteer repair experts are available to help make repairs, free of charge. Repair Café Sandbach are particularly seeking volunteer fixers with skills in the following areas: electrical, sewing/textiles, bikes, IT/computers, woodwork but other more bespoke skills, such as jewellery, are also most welcome.  You don’t need to be a professional fixer to get involved; all you need is to be confident, competent and happy to give your time to make a positive difference to the environment, and to your local community.

Repair Café Sandbach are also looking for volunteer hosts to welcome visitors to the Repair Café and to help with serving refreshments. If you are friendly and love being part of a feel-good atmosphere, why not get involved?

Visit their project page for more information on how to get involved

FREE to any u3a member who will make use of it.
