u3a Members Update 26th May 2024

Group news

Vacancies have arisen in two popular groups

Bowls 1 Summer – Wednesday mornings from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon

We play Crown Green bowls on the upper green (sometimes known as “The Marriott House” green) on Sandbach Park.

Petanque – Tuesday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm

The group plays Petanque (French Boules) at Crewe Bowling Club, 21a Stanhope Avenue, Crewe, CW1 6ED

Boules are available for people to borrow, the rules are easy, the game is not too strenuous and the group is very friendly.

Anyone interested in either of these groups should email their details to groups.co-ordinator@sandbachu3a.org.uk

Volunteering ides

🐾 CHARITY SHOP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 🐾

The Sandbach Animal Rescue Society Shop is entirely run by a team of volunteers.

The shop is open 6 days a week, from 9.30am-4.00pm, located at George’s Walk, Sandbach. No experience is necessary, training will be provided.

Volunteers typically do half a day per week or ad hoc shifts to suit their schedule

If you would like to be a volunteer and have a few hours to spare, please get in touch. It’s a great way to meet new people, give back to the community and help a local animal rescue.

Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome the stray, unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens in Sandbach and the local surrounding areas.

Please email: sarsvolunteers4cats@gmail.com and they will get back to you.

Alternatively please call Donna Cleveley, who is a Sandbach u3a member as well as a volunteer for Sandbach Animal Rescue, to discuss it further.

There are also many volunteering roles within our u3a – find out more here https://sandbachu3a.org.uk/potential-roles-for-volunteers/

And finally

“It has become clear to me that aging itself does not bring wisdom. It often brings regression to childishness, dependency, and bitterness over lost opportunities. Only those who are still intellectually, emotionally, spiritually growing inherit the richness of aging.” ~James Hollis
