Do you enjoy working with computers?

Our website is a key tool for communicating with and updating our members. We are looking for people who enjoy working with computers and would be interested in helping with simple updates and gradually learning more about how our website works. It’s being sensible, interested and prepared to have a go that matters most, and Alan Casey, our website manager, would be more than happy to have several sessions with any interested parties so they could find out, without commitment, what’s involved. To explore if it might suit you or for an informal chat please email Alan alancasey316@gmail.com

Yoga 5 – weekly on Thursday’s from 1.00pm-2.15pm at the Masonic Hall

These groups practise Hatha and other types of Yoga. Our instructor Tash believes yoga is an accessible and universal practice that has something to offer to everybody no matter how big or small. It doesn’t require you to have any prior knowledge, ability or experience, or to be able to “touch your toes”.

Tash’s aim as a teacher is to make your experience inclusive, practical, functional and as enjoyable as possible. Even if it’s just by 1% as long as you come away from the class feeling better than you did before – that is yoga! These are paid tutor groups, so payment is normally in advance, the cost is £3.00 per session. If anyone is interested in attending a taster session please contact

Dementia Support

We have been in touch with 2 local support groups for those with dementia, their families and carers

They are mainly looking for people who will benefit from the group, those living with dementia and their family/carers, however, if there is anyone who would like to volunteer to help at the sessions that would be marvellous.

The Sandbach Ukelele band are coming to the November meeting, so it would be great to get good turn-out.

Julie Andrews Turning 79

Here are the lyrics she used:

(Sing It!) – If you sing it, it’s especially hysterical!!! )

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,

Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,

Bundles of magazines tied up in string,

These are a few of my favourite things

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,

Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,

Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,

These are a few of my favourite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,

When the knees go bad,

I simply remember my favourite things,

And then I don’t feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,

No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,

Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,

These are a few of my favourite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin’,

Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin’,

And we won’t mention our short shrunken frames,

When we remember our favourite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,

When the eyes grow dim,

Then I remember the great life I’ve had,

And then I don’t feel so bad.

Finally some more traffic news

A lorry has shed its load of pens, pencils, rubbers, paper clips and rulers. Surrounding traffic is completely stationery.
