Please help us to help Children in Need by coming along and supporting your contemporary dance group on Monday 11th November at The Wesley Centre. We will be dancing as Third Age Contemporary between 12.30 and 1.30 pm
You can sit and watch or feel free to join in and have fun with us. There will be a yellow Pudsey bucket waiting for your donations.

This wine tasting and appreciation group meetings take place in members’ homes.
The group tastes 6 wines per evening and members are invited to offer our opinions on the wine and share any knowledge they may have. For more information click here
Next U3A Quiz Night.
A FEW PLACES REMAINING!
The next U3A quiz is arranged for Wednesday 13th November in St Mary’s Church Hall, Sandbach. Julie Clarke will devise the questions and operate the microphone on the night. The hall will open at 7pm and the questions will start at 7:30. Each team may have up to six members, who should a) bring their own drinks and snacks and b) bring the £1.50 entry fee per team member.
This is a popular event, and the hall allows only 24 teams so prompt action is required. The only way to participate is to send an email to kev1dea2@gmail.com. Please don’t just turn up on the night expecting the necessary materials to be prepared for your team.
The email should contain the name of your team and its captain. The organiser will respond to every entry received to confirm your place in the quiz. If you don’t receive a response within a week, you should resend your application because the organiser did not receive it.
Although we have many regular teams who return every year, we would love to welcome new members to this friendly fun event. Teams of up to 6 people should register their interest as soon as possible at the email address above. We look forward to seeing you there.
The Book Exchange – A new venture for the New Year
Hello Everyone
Some of you may remember the Book Exchange from the anniversary celebrations earlier this year. It was a joint venture by all the Sandbach U3A reading groups of various sorts, who contributed books and manned the desk. Some of you may have visited us then.
The books contributed were ones that members had enjoyed and thought others might enjoy too. Some put short notes in their books, saying why they’d enjoyed them. Other U3A members were invited to bring in a book of their own and to take another away, or sit and read and talk about books.
It all worked pretty well and a number of people who came said it was something they’d like to see it happening on a regular basis. We thought we’d give it a go.
So, starting at the January members’ morning (06/01/25) there will be a book exchange table at the back of the hall from about 9.30. Members are invited to bring a book or books and take one from the table, all very simple, and we’ll see how it goes. You can even take a book without giving one if you wish, but it’d be good to have an exchange.
What needs to be clear though, is that this isn’t an alternative to taking your bag of unwanted paperback to the charity shop. That’s not what we want and we could not cope with the numbers or the weight! We’ll have to take the boxes of books away and store them between meetings.
The books you exchange should be those you’ve really enjoyed, that mean something to you and you want to share with others. For the last book exchange I gave a book that I loved so much I bought another copy to keep! I realise that’s a bit extreme, just an example.
So, do come along in January, have a look and exchange a book. It will be great to see you!
