Foden’s Band was formed in 1902 as part of the Foden’s Motor Works. The band have been based in Sandbach, Cheshire since its formation and are the current ‘Double National Champions of Great Britain’ as well as being ranked as one of the leading brass bands in the World.
We are joined by Mark Wilkinson and Jimmy Charles. They will give a presentation of the history of the band and will also be playing some cornet music for us.
Mark is the band’s principal cornet, leader of the band, and he is also it’s manager. He has been principal cornet for over 30 years. Mark will be playing some pieces for us on his cornet.
Jimmy has been involved with the band since 1960 initially as a cornet player but he no longer plays. He is now acts as a librarian and archivist at Foden’s Museum.
