Tour Black & White Villages of Herefordshire on Thursday 21 Jun 2018 costing £16
The trail, as the name suggests, is characterised by the large number of timbered and half-timbered houses in the area some dating from medieval times, others from more recent periods. It is just like Northwich without the subsidence and chemical industry.
The Black & White Village Trail goes through some of the prettiest villages and most beautiful landscape in England. The 40 mile circular trail leads west from the ancient town of Leominster, through a rich landscape of orchards, hopyards and distant hills, taking in the most picturesque black and white villages along the way as well as the little market town of Kington.
The villages are more than just pretty places to visit. Each one has its own character and community, with tea-rooms, shops, craft workshops and pubs waiting to welcome the visitor. A Blue Badge guide will board the coach in Leominster to inform you of the history of the villages you pass through.
You may take lunch in Hay on Wye and buy some books for the journey home. Allow for a possible return time of 8pm.
The coach leaves the Military Arms in Sandbach at 8am and tickets will be available on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from the U3A desk in Sandbach library.
