Diary Update – August 2018

This message contains a brief monthly update to let members of Sandbach U3A know about new opportunities.

Sign-up Day Wednesday 29th August 2018

The annual event to add new members to groups will be held in the Wesley Centre CW11 1DG between 10am and noon. You can add your name to a group, if it has vacancies, or find out more details from the leader. Please be aware that the Wesley Centre car park is quite small and will be reserved for disabled members during this event.

First Aid Course Monday 8th October 2018

We have arranged a one day course aimed at walkers who might find themselves dealing with an emergency in which prompt action could save a life. The skills are useful not only for walkers; emergencies can strike when you are with your family. Give yourself the simple skills to do the right thing when it matters. The location for the course is Bradwall Village Hall and the cost is £2 per person. To book a place or to obtain further details contact barrie.hacking.u3a@gmail.com

Autumn Quiz Wednesday 7th November 2018

The next quiz in St Mary’s Church Hall will take the same form as all the previous quizzes for Sandbach U3A. The hall will open at 7pm for Keith Pointon to start the questions at 7:30. Each team may have up to six members, who should bring their own drinks and snacks to aid concentration or to console them after failing to give the correct answers. The traditional sheet for entering team name and captain’s name will appear on the U3A noticeboard in Sandbach library in October and this time you will also be able to record an entry from the start of October by sending the names of your team and its captain in an email to quiz@sandbachu3a.org.uk

Trip to York in 2019

Because the two trips to York this year have been fully booked, we shall organise another one next year. To put your name down for a seat, please contact Alice on 01270 765856.

We shall issue a more detailed newsletter in October 2018. To share information about something that has happened or is going to happen, please send details to newsfeed@sandbachu3a.org.uk

This message goes to each member who has provided an email address to the membership team. If you know of someone who doesn’t use email, please pass on the contents of this message to them. All group leaders are requested to ensure that all their members receive the diary updates, which can be printed for reference if required.
